Kiln in Claude

Use Kiln inside Claude

Add Kiln as a connector and design, check, and price 3D prints right in the conversation. No install, no 3D printer required — one sign-in and Kiln can make a model, confirm it will print, and tell you what it costs to have it made and shipped. Ordering is one more click, below.

Add it in three steps

  1. 1

    Add the connector

Open this link and Claude opens its Add-connector dialog with Kiln filled in — confirm it. Or add it by hand: Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://api.kiln3d.com/mcp.

  2. 2

Claude opens a Kiln sign-in in your browser. Create a free account or sign in, approve access, and you are back in Claude — connected. Nothing to copy or paste.

  3. 3

    Ask

Try “make me a coaster with my dog’s name on it”, “what material for an outdoor bracket that holds 5 kg?”, or “design a hole that fits an AAA battery”. Kiln does the rest and shows you a preview.

What you can do

Design

Describe an object and get a real, printable model — or start from a template (coasters, keychains, nameplates, trays, plaques, pet tags and more).

Decorate

Add text, a QR code, images or textures to a surface.

Check

Printability analysis, material recommendations, load and tolerance maths, and how to size a hole, joint, fastener, adhesive or magnet so parts really fit. Food-safety and skin-contact guidance included.

Document

Generate a dimensioned technical drawing or a step-by-step assembly manual.

Find

Search 3D-model marketplaces for an existing design before making one from scratch.

Price

Get a real quote to have the part professionally printed — plastics, resin, nylon or metal — and shipped to you, and track an order you have placed. Placing the order lives on the full connector (below).

Ordering: the full connector

The connector above prices parts and tracks orders, but never places one. When you want the part made, add Kiln’s full connector — same account, same sign-in, nothing to re-enter — and Claude can place the order for you. Craftcloud, a network of 150+ manufacturers, makes and ships it; you pay them directly at their checkout, and Kiln adds a small fee for arranging it (see pricing).

Prefer to add it by hand? Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://api.kiln3d.com/mcp-full.

What about my own printer?

The hosted connector runs in the cloud, so it does not drive printers: a cloud service cannot reach a printer on your home network. It can watch one — ask about your printer and a live monitor opens in the chat — once the local install below is running beside the printer.

If you own a printer, the free command-line install adds printer control, slicing and live print monitoring on your own machine — the local half of Kiln, right where your printer is.

Accounts & pricing

Connecting creates a free Kiln account. Describing and designing your own parts is free. Ready-made products, textures, repairs and splits come with a small monthly allowance, and your first few manufacturing orders each month carry no Kiln fee. Paid tiers lift the limits and unlock deeper engineering data — see pricing.

Privacy, terms & support

Read our Privacy Policy and our Terms. Kiln is built by Hadron Labs Inc.; printing is carried out by third-party manufacturing partners, and your order contract is with the manufacturer. Questions or issues? Email adam@kiln3d.com.
