Adam Arreola is a builder, researcher, and investor. He is the founder of Kiln, the open-source layer that lets AI agents design and print physical objects, and an investment manager at NGC Ventures, where he evaluates early-stage AI and infrastructure companies. He was previously a research analyst at Messari, publishing more than 170 reports on emerging technology. Kiln 1.3.0 through 1.3.2 put an interactive 3D stage right in your AI conversation on every install, cut models too big for your build plate into pieces that fit and reassemble, and read CAD files free for everyone. Kiln installs into Claude Code with one command and speaks the newest Model Context Protocol, so slow jobs stop blocking the chat. Shops can hand Kiln a customer drawing and get a dimension-by-dimension answer on whether their machines can hold it.
Kiln speaks the 2026-07-28 Model Context Protocol specification, and it changes three things you can feel: a design opens as a real 3D stage inside the conversation instead of a flat render, a job that outlasts the chat hands back a ticket instead of dying with the session, and nothing gets ordered until you answer a real question.
Kiln 1.2.0 is a massive release. Make and finish a real object right in your browser (textures, your own photos and logos), design free-form organic shapes with a new engine that’s still improving, and recover from print failures more intelligently. Every file also carries a signed stamp proving it came from Kiln, plus optional creator credit on Pro. Broken and AI-generated models come back sharper. A few deeper recovery and engineering features are Kiln Pro and Business.
Kiln 1.1.9 makes the everyday loop smoother and more self-sufficient: Kiln updates itself with your go-ahead, makes objects without an API key, and shows a preview every single time. Free accounts sign in to the web app, accepting the Terms is a one-time tap, and your saved decorations follow you everywhere. Business and Enterprise add dimensioned production drawings and broader chemical-resistance coverage.
Kiln 1.1.8 is a step toward AI agents running real production: honest answers on whether a part survives gasoline, bleach, or a summer outside, the right glue to bond two printed parts cited to the maker’s sheet, datasheet-imported materials, and factory work instructions in seven languages. Plus doomed prints stopped before they waste filament.
Bambu launched the A2L on June 1. Kiln added support within 3 days, so the moment you connect it your AI agent already knows the machine: ready to design, slice, and print, with no setup on your end. Three more new Bambu printers landed the same week: the X1E, P2S, and the enclosed H2S.
