Trust

Built to pass a security review.

The parts your security team will ask about — shipped, not promised. On every plan, including Free.

Signed supply chain

Every release ships Sigstore-signed builds and SLSA build provenance, attested in a public transparency log. Two commands prove your download came from our CI, from a commit you can read — no key to trust, nothing we can rewrite after the fact. Each release also publishes a full ingredients list — every third-party library inside Kiln, with exact versions, in both CycloneDX and SPDX — so your scanners can check the whole stack, not just our code.

Spend caps on every account

Outsourced manufacturing orders are capped by default — $500 per order, $2,000 a month — on every plan, Free included. Raising a cap takes a code from your authenticator app, and every change is audit-logged and reversible by email for 24 hours. Your agent can’t outspend your mandate.

Open source where it counts

The engine that touches your printers is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub — auditable line by line. Paid tiers add the hosted workflow around it, never a black box between you and your machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is local printing really free?

Yes. Kiln is open source (AGPL-3.0). Local printing, slicing, and printer control are free forever with no limits on print volume.

What is a fulfillment order?

When you outsource manufacturing through Craftcloud via Kiln. Local printing to your own printers does not count.

Can I self-host everything?

Yes. Kiln runs entirely locally. Pro/Business/Enterprise tiers add optional cloud features, but free tier local basic functionality never requires a subscription. Enterprise customers who need Kiln inside their own infrastructure boundary can deploy on-prem or in their VPC.

Do I need a paid plan for multiple printers?

Free and Pro tiers each support 1 printer. Business includes 3 printers ($15/mo per additional, up to 50). For larger fleets, Enterprise is custom-quoted.

What's the difference between Pro and Business?

Pro is for individual makers and personal projects — single user, single printer, not for prints sold for revenue. Business is for anyone running a real operation: Etsy shops, Shopify stores, custom-order businesses, agencies, schools, manufacturers. Business adds multi-printer fleet management, team seats, QR codes, and the workflow features small shops actually need. (Both tiers are subscription plans for the hosted product — separate from the AGPL-alternative licensing covered below.)

What does annual billing save?

Annual plans save roughly 20% compared to monthly. Pro drops from $49/mo to $39/mo ($468/yr). Business drops from $199/mo to $159/mo ($1,908/yr). Enterprise pricing is custom — annual savings are part of the conversation. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time.

What's included in Enterprise?

Enterprise is for teams running production print operations — manufacturing, regulated industries, large fleets. It includes SSO and SCIM provisioning, named-approver e-signatures on design releases, role-based access control, full audit trails, lockable safety profiles, on-prem or VPC deployment options, a dedicated CSM, and a 99.9% uptime SLA. Pricing is tailored per deal — contact us for a quote that fits your team and use case.

Can our security team review Kiln before we buy?

Yes — that review is designed for. Every release ships with Sigstore-signed builds and SLSA build provenance, attested in a public transparency log your tooling can query, and our verification guide shows how to check any download yourself in one command. The local engine is open source and auditable. Under NDA we share the fuller evidence package: our SOC 2 readiness assessment (Type I preparation is in progress — we're honest about that), completed CAIQ and SIG Lite questionnaires, and the on-prem deployment architecture.

What stops an AI agent from overspending?

Spend caps, on every account including Free. When you outsource manufacturing through Kiln, a single order is capped at $500 and your calendar-month total at $2,000 by default. Going above either takes a code from your authenticator app — an agent can't do that for you — and every change is audit-logged and reversible by email for 24 hours. Printing to your own printers is never metered or capped.

Can I try Enterprise before committing?

Yes. Email adam@kiln3d.com and we'll set you up with full Enterprise access to evaluate.

Need a non-AGPL license to use Kiln in proprietary code?

Different from the subscription tiers above. Kiln is open source under AGPL-3.0, which requires that derivative works and networked services built on Kiln also be open-sourced. If your company needs to use Kiln in proprietary products without AGPL obligations, we offer an AGPL commercial license (a dual-licensing alternative — not a subscription tier). Contact adam@kiln3d.com to discuss.

Are you selling what you print?

Pro is for personal projects. Business is for prints you sell — Etsy, Shopify, custom orders, client work — and includes the team and fleet features you’ll want once revenue is on the line.

About your subscription plan — not Kiln’s open-source (AGPL-3.0) license. You can change plans anytime in billing settings.
